Dear Parents

Thank you for your continued support during these difficult times. As your child has been asked to self-isolate, we are providing them with learning that can be completed at home. We understand that this is a difficult time and that many parents/carers are working from home and therefore access to technology could be difficult for some children, so we are providing work in a variety of formats.

Paper Based Activities

You will receive an email with some activities that can be completed at home. If you do not have access to a printer, then you are welcome to collect a pack from the school office, it can be sent home with a sibling or we can deliver it to you.

Online Learning

We have started using Purple Mash as our remote learning platform. The Year R teaching team will be setting daily Maths or English activities on Purple Mash starting on Wednesday 18th November. These activities may include RWI teaching sessions and games or challenges. This work can be found in the 2DO section at the top of the screen.  When it is completed it can be handed in by clicking on the relevant button or if it is a practical activity you could send a photo to the year group email. The teachers will then be able to look at this work and respond. We have attached a handout explaining how to use Purple Mash. You will find your child’s log in details in the front of their homework book but if you do not know your child’s Purple Mash log-in, then please email the Year R teachers.

Daily Activities

  • Number and name writing (laminated sheet in book bag)
  • Practise sounds and red words using the resources in your child’s book bag
  • Practise counting out loud to at least 10 and count objects.
  • Read or listen to a story for 10 minutes everyday
  • Try to do 20 minutes of exercise each day. You could use Jump Start Jonny or Cosmic Yoga.

Any work completed on Purple Mash and handed in will be seen by a member of the Year R teaching team. Any other work completed or photographs can be sent in to the Year R email address and the teachers will respond. The Year R teachers will phone each parent next week to talk to the children and see how they are getting on with the work they have been set.

We are currently trying to reschedule the flu immunisations for the Reception children and we will let you know when we have a new date. The birthday celebration for Reception will take place during the week beginning 30th November.

I look forward to seeing all the children back at school on Friday 27th November.
